Grahams Dairy’s Bridge of Allan Open

The Bridge of Allan Grahams Dairy Open was a huge success this year with a bit increase in entries, and a high standard of tennis.  Congratulations to Central players for their excellent results, With Ali Collins, Hannah Worsley, Tim Goldie, Tom Whitelaw, Vincent Gillespie, Anna Gillespie, Caitlin Owens, James Ritchie, Ruaridh Owens, Mat Williamson, Conor Wiliiams and Sammy Ralston all putting in very good displays!

Central Scotland Invitational Team v Ireland

This event saw a Central Scotland Invitational team played a friendly match against Ireland at Bridge of Allan Tennis Club.  Central Scotland have been victorious in the last 3 fixtures, with Central Scotland beating the Irish team comfortably last November in Dublin.

This time the Central Scotland team included a lot of younger player who were representing Central Scotland for the first time and whom gained valuable experience from the fixture.  Over the two days the Irish team proved too strong for the Central Scotland Team winning 46 matches to 28 overall.

North of Scotland Inter District Orange and Green

On Sunday 28th August Bridge of Allan Sports Club hosted the North of Scotland Inter District Mini Green and Orange championships.

Each district in the North of Scotland, Highlands, North East, Tayside and Central were involved, and there were 6 players per team and both singles and doubles were played.

In the mini green team Central Scotland were the overall winners with the team of Tom Whitelaw, Tim Goldie, Pierce Brown, Conor Williams, Ewan Mcmurray, Rory Reid-Kay and Jodie Mclelland.

The winners of the mini orange were Tayside, with Central, Highlands and the North East coming joint 2nd.

Central Tournament Circuit Grand Prix Finals 2011

The Central/Tayside Tournament Circuit came to a conclusion at the end of August with the Grand Prix Finals held at Bridge of Allan Sports Club..  The top performing Red, Orange and Green players were invited back to battle it out to be champion.

The circuit this year has involved over 120 events (from mini events through to open events) at 25 venues, and has involved over 600 players.

In the Mini Red event Ben Morrison beat Arun Pathal in the semi finals in 3 close tie breaks, and Rohan Thumma Reddy overcame Luke Macfarlane.  In a very close final Rohan Thumma Reddy beat Ben Morrison 7-4 3-7 7-3.

AEGON British Junior National Championships – Ruairidh Fraser

Ruairidh Fraser put in a strong showing at the National Championships at Bournemouth coming through three rounds of qualifying to become the only Scottish player in the main draw of the boys singles.  He was defeated in the 1st round of the main draw by Barnaby Smith 6-1 6-4.  Ruairidh then went on to win his next 3 matches to win the consolation event, and also won a round of the main draw doubles.
